Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP)

In the last semester of my 3-year Polytechnic course, I was given the opportunity to gain real-life work experience through my time in TEP. 

I was attached to the Business Analytics and Customer Insights Centre (BACI) in NYP. During my time here, I was assigned to the Omnichannel and Social Media Management team, where Daikin Singapore and Chuan Ji Bakery Hainanese Delicacies were the clients I was working with.

Daikin Outbound


 - Call Center Agent

What did I do?
 

For my first TEP stopover, I was attached to the Daikin Outbound centre. Here, I built customer databases and made calls to customers who had recent appointments with Daikin and conducted surveys enquiring about their experience with Daikin. 

After completing the survey calling process, I compiled the results into a meaningful presentation to be submitted to Daikin, garnering key insights and areas of improvement into a slides deck.

What I gained
 


At first, the thought of calling complete strangers was daunting as I was afraid that I would encounter customers that were extremely dissatisfied with Daikin's services.

However, by encountering such customers, I developed both my communication and interpersonal skills as I learned how to handle and appease them accordingly, by listening to what they had to say. 

Additionally, I was also challenged intellectually and pushed to my limits as I was given an individual presentation to complete, using software that I had no knowledge of - PowerBI.

This attachment has allowed me to hone my skills and enabled me to discover what I may want to do in the future - to be a Research Analyst.

Social Media Management 

Chuan Ji Bakery Hainanese Delicacies


 - Social Media Content Strategist

What did I do?
 

My client while working in Social Media was Chuan Ji - a traditional Hainanese bakery.  Our objective was to aid the owner in coming up with sustainable, low-maintenance yet engaging social media content as his social media were to be independently handled by him eventually.

For this project, we took over previous batches who also planned and executed various social media contents. Thus, we conducted detailed research to find out what type of content we believe the brand can focus on presently and in the future, while simultaneously fulfilling the owner's goals and vision for his social media channels.

Additionally, our group also created content that the brand could use in the future to further improve their brand image and presence, to increase visibility among their target audiences while making sure that the content we created was aligned to the brand's persona and current social media theme.

Personally, I feel that I possess some undesirable traits such as indecisivenessbeing a perfectionist and inability to work with a lack of structure.

Navigating social media and its contents is not an easy task due to the ambiguity of its environment. Thus, I struggled a fair bit with coming up with ideas as there was much to consider while handling the brand.

Nonetheless, I have learned not to be so fickle-minded and become more unwavering with approaching social media strategies, approaching it one step at a time.
